US Evacuates Cruise Passengers After Rare Hantavirus infection Outbreak
Eighteen Americans have been moved off a Dutch cruise ship into monitoring after the discovery of Andes hantavirus. The virus has already killed three individuals and resulted in a positive diagnosis for an American individual; however, the risk to the general population is minimal since transmission of the virus can only occur with close proximity. As of right now, 16 passengers are being quarantined at a special facility in Nebraska, with two other individuals being monitored in Atlanta.
